'Creative economy' research gets boost

[7 December 2006 - North Adams Transcript] A Massachusetts professor of economics has received a $338,000 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to research the impact museums have on communities. "While the anecdotal evidence seems to prove that a cultural destination can be an economic engine, [professor Stephen C.] Sheppard's research aims to provide hard facts for other communities seeking renewal through art."
